My name is Paul. I’ve just turned 49. I first came to Tinos in 1999 for two months when having a two month break from the IT firm I’d been working for for 10 years.
I’ve been back quite a few times since then but am now here for what could be a six or so week spell.
I haven’t had a “proper” job for three years now since being made redundant from a financial institution in the City. I have had three temporary civil service IT jobs since then but at the end of September 2010 there was an almost complete ban on the employment of temporary staff.
My plan was to get myself some web skills that might allow me to do some freelancing – I got rather derailed when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in February this year. Thanks to it being diagnosed early enough and the wonderful consultant I found, all is well on that front.
The timing of this trip has been in my mind for quite a while as it also coincides with me standing down after serving my three years as director of a branch of a national charity.
In case you are wondering, the photo in the banner is of Superferry II – pictured at about 6am on the day she brought me here. She is also the boat that I caught to come here for my very first visit just over 12 years ago.
Looking forward to all your blogging and pics to make me green with envy, much lovexxxxx
“Proper” jobs are sooo overated 😉 have a great summer xxx
You should take the little black kitten home Paul — he matches Malcolm and Maisy!! What a fun vacation. Morning and evening swims — heaven!
Nora, there are two the same (well almost the same . . . one has a little bump towards the tip of his tail). I’m looking forward to seeing them all again when I move back to that apartment on 21st.
